Trip Details:
Check-In at 11:00 am at the old Sears building (upper-parking lot).
You will board a Deluxe Santa Barbara Airbus Tour Coach which will depart from the old Sears upper-lot once everyone is checked in and on board. (You may leave your cars parked in the lot.) Waters and snacks will be provided on the coach. The coach is air-conditioned and has a bathroom. The ride will take approximately one hour to get to the festival, arriving at Oxnard Historic Farm Park approx. 12:30 pm.
The coach will depart the Lima Bean Festival at 3:00 pm, arriving back in Santa Barbara at 4 – 4:30 pm (depending on traffic).
This is a fundraiser event for the Main-Begg Farmhouse! All proceeds from ticket sales will go towards supporting the mission of the Main-Begg Farmhouse. Santa Barbara Airbus is donating their coach and driver for this event.
Sit back and enjoy a relaxing and comfortable bus ride on the Santa Barbara Airbus to a fun-filled afternoon at the 3rd Annual Lima Bean Festival at Oxnard Historic Farm Park!
Fun Fact: Did you know that lima beans were once Goleta’s number one commercial crop? More fun lima bean information and stories will be shown in some short videos during the ride to Oxnard in the coach. And historian Ron Nye will also share more local lima bean history during the entertaining commute.
Note – Bring some cash! There is no cost to enter the Lima Bean Festival, however, bring some cash if you want to enjoy food and beverages (adult beverages will be available), and if you wish to purchase any books or other items.
At the Lima Bean Festival:
Enjoy a Lima Bean tasting contest; Lima Bean history books; commemorative poster; bean thresher demo; lima bean music; kids crafts, tours of site; lima bean history slide show; lima bean displays and locally grown lima beans for sale!

Fruit Tree Pruning & Care
A Hands-On Workshop for Home Gardeners
Saturday, October 10, 2026 / 9:00 – 11:00 am
at the Main-Begg Farmhouse Garden
Limited to 20 attendees
Must be 18 years or older
$65.00 Per Person

Certified Arborist and Owner of Arbor Services, Inc.
Karen Christman, owner of Arbor Services, Inc. has been a local Certified Arborist for more than 30 years. Many people have attended her previous workshops at La Sumida Nursery, SBCC Green Gardener or Master Gardener Program.
This is a fundraiser event for the Main-Begg Farmhouse. All proceeds from ticket sales will go towards supporting the mission of the Main-Begg Farmhouse.
Workshop Details:
- This workshop will cover stone fruits, citrus, avocado, and more.
- Attendees should plan to dress for the weather, ie. hat, sturdy shoes, light jacket, sunscreen.
- Bring your gardening gloves and a pair of hand pruners.
- Participants are responsible for their own safety. Prepare to be on your feet for most of the workshop.
- Water and light snacks will be provided.
- Must be 18 or older.
- NO pets.
About Karen Christman
Karen Christman has been a Certified Arborist since 1997 and has dedicated her career to tree care, environmental stewardship, and community education in the Santa Barbara area. She earned an A.A.S. in Ecology and Environmental Technology from Paul Smith’s College and a B.S. in Soil Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Karen was also a Licensed Pesticide Applicator from 1998 to 2020 and served as an instructor for the Green Gardener Certification Program from 2001 to 2011. In addition to her professional work, she has been actively involved in the local community through leadership roles with organizations including the Board of Directors for Santa Barbara Beautiful, the City of Santa Barbara Street Tree Advisory Committee, and the St. Raphael School Board in Goleta, where she served as Landscape Chair.
